About Me. My major painting influences have been and probably still are - Van Gogh, Gustav Fjaestad, Edvard Munch, Monet, Hokusai, Helmer Osslund, Pip Carpenter and the Fauvists such as Derain, Manguin, de Vlamink and Martina Shapiro. Musically I've been influenced by The Rolling Stones, Phil Spector, J.M.Jarre, Tchaikovsky, Los Calchakis, Enigma, Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Bob Dylan, The White Stripes, and Indian Classical music. There may be more that I have missed.
| A bit of history. I have been painting occasionally since about 1980. I began with a small oil palette but by 1986 I have stopped this and moved to glass painting. During the period of 1986 - 87, I completed a number of glass paintings but then my production tailored off due to my 3 yr study of Zoology at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. I restarted painting in oils about 2004 and changed to acrylics in 2006. and in late 207 restarted painting on sheet glass. Musically, my family had a upright piano and I used to 'plonk' on that during my teenage years. In my early twenties I took a few acoustic guitars lessons but didn't really practice enough. In 2005 I bought a Charango and the tutorial book from Bolivia. Later in the same year, I took classical guitar lessons and since then my musical instrument collection and thus knowledge has expanded. My instrument collection, currently consists of three electric guitars, an acoustic, a semi-acoustic, 12 string and classical guitars, synthesizer, electric, acoustic and Chinese violins, Ukelele, Mandolin, Mandolina, two Charangos, Lyre Harp, Sitar, Cimbalon, African Harp, Balalaika, Quena Flute, a set of Bombas Flutes and a drum machine. | Customer responses. I have recently sold a small number of my works (acrylic and on sheet glass) obviously the customers would not purchase these if they were not pleased with my art. Every few months I produce a brochure including a selection of my latest works. The following is a review of my art from Paintings and Prints by British Artists: Description: Landscape, floral and abstract paintings in Acrylic, oil and on sheet glass. • Editors comment: George gives us all something different here, the artists gallery is in the *.pdf format, you need to give the pages a little time to load. Once loaded you will be quite amazed at the different types of work. The differing subjects all follow one theme, warm colours tastefully blended. This work would look good on most walls. I like the paintings very much and can recommend you to take a look, be aware of the *.pdf format though. The follwing is a review of my art from bigartspace.co.uk: The work of George Hunter demonstrates his rhythmic use of colour. He openly acknowledges the influence of Japanese art, Van Gogh and the Fauvists. His work uses a range of media in a personal and expressive manner.
